Emily Winters
Life’s Most Simple Joys
Reverberating through the floor,
Awakening you from your daydream of Bourbon Street;
But not quite – you’re wallowing in your golden
thoughts.
Jolting your feet, making them dance all on their
lonesome,
The beat rises and falls like the soothing yet
wild’n’crazy ocean that it truly is.
Gritty yet smooth just the same,
The perfect harmony of romance in one tangled mess
of notes.
Dancing across the keys, striking and assaulting
strings in a gentle way,
Cradling the drum sticks like newborns on a
rollicking adventure,
Pumping life with a simple swipe at the bass.
Falling into dreamland to the rhythm of the song,
The wonder of life’s most simple joys still written
across your peaceful face.
