Emily Winters
No Shelter
Shelter me (so that I
never have to)
Go
Leave
Do
Be
I can’t anymore,
My tears mingle with
the rain,
And your arms surround
me so that I never have to
See
Hope
(be)
I want to lie in the
shade (fire) of yesterday,
Until the flames catch
up to us,
And burn down our
house,
Our dreams(?)
Do I dream…?
I slumber through the
nights and I pass through the days,
My life,
The haze.
Coated in smog as I
choke on the ash of everything,
As I flounder in the
remains of the bones of yesterday…
Shelter me in your
head,
Keep me safe to never
stray…
I might as well ask of
you a cage.
