Emily Winters
Midnight Air
Have you ever breathed
a sigh of utter bliss and complete contentment?
Have you ever just
closed your eyes
And opened your mind
Inhaling the midnight
air
Drifting along in the
stillness
Loving the peace
Living the life
Loving the life?
Have you ever wrapped
your aching bones in serenity
In the moon’s gentle
embrace
And the willow’s
soothing roots
Letting your head lie
amongst the stars
And rest upon rivers
and streams of silver leaves
Brook beds of star children
and flourishing bluebells?
Have you ever taken a
minute out of it all
To reflect on it all
To be taken aback
By all that has been
given
And all that’s been
taken?
Have you ever planted
the seeds of ecstasy
Deep in your soul
And have the ribbons of
the nightshade
And the tendrils of
cloud wading through the moon
Wrap elegant fingers
around your lungs
And breathe with you
Whispering with the
hushing of the willows and birch
That everything is
beautiful.
