“Dream Chaser”
Lone
car
Deserted
road
Headlights
carving through darkness
Lone
silos sentinel shadows
Green
fields turn to glass,
Mirroring
a flat-line sea.
Fluorescent
lines matching the pulse of the world,
Soothing
rhythm of the road
That
puts the kids to sleep.
Joy
and midnight weariness
Weighing
down the eyes
Satisfied
smiles across the divide
Between
the seats, between minds.
Glow
to disrupt
The
gentle silence of the night
Hum
that speckles the dashboard
With
light.
Projectile
wandering
Wading
through the ebony
Seeking
out those daydreams
The
long forsaken adolescent fantasies
Before
the sand is decayed,
Before
the Dream is just a dream
And
the Day just a day.
